Scavenger Hunt: Makeup HauL Edition

When planning for a day out with friends for lunch and spa dates, there’s nothing more exciting than the idea of a Sephora or Ulta Haul. MY oh MY and without hesitation my thoughts immediately become “NOW you’re speaking my language”. It is at this moment I begin  jumping for joy while exerting the biggest smile on my face. I'm instantly taken back to my childhood memories when my mom would take me to our local candy store as my eyes light up with excitement. It’s the exact same feeling, one in which I will never forget.

Now that I’m all grown up, self care is so important to me and shopping for all my favorite skincare and makeup must-haves is at the top of my list.

Do you feel that your makeup bag is in need of an overhaul?

Well let me take you on a visual journey of what my everyday and travel essentials look like.

In the past, many have asked the question: “Do you find a “dupe” for higher end brands with the intention of saving money”?

My response is yes and no … Simply because I have extremely dry sensitive skin and trying different products can sometimes work against me.  However, normally I would gather samples of products that are new to my skincare routine and if it's worth the money I definitely don't take any risk of  breakouts or allergic reactions. My skin is my biggest investment! I can remember a time when I utilized a moisturizer manufactured by a very well known luxury brand and the results were not that great. Before going to bed, of course, I washed my face in a routine manner with lukewarm water and applied the new moisturizer only to wake up the very next morning with a swollen face and eyelids. So gambling or taking a chance on my skin is simply not even up for debate. At the same token, I’ve also used CeraVe, a drug store item that also works wonders and is highly recommended by numerous professional dermatologists.

The ultimate moisturizer at the top of my list is indeed Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream. It’s smooth texture and hydrating mechanism brings my skin to life and the transition of makeup application is a smooth one.  Again, because I have dry skin, my facial cleanser consists of an oil based cleanser. Josie Moran, no doubt helps to easily remove makeup and aids in helping unclog my pores. I’ve tried other less expensive brands but none seems to compare to its lightweight texture.

Next on the list is my foundation.

Both MAC Cosmetics Pro Longwear and Too Faced Born This Way have me completely in awe of one another.  I equally enjoy wearing them both and can’t favor one over the other. There are days that foundation is not needed in my makeup application. In turn, I substitute with PUR 4-in-1 tinted moisturizer that has my skin resembling smooth organic butter.  In order to condense my travel essentials, PUR 4-in-1 tinted moisturizer not only gives me an ultimate vacation glow, it consists of SPF 20 to protect my melanated skin from the hot flaming sunrays.  For a perfected glow on date night,  Too Faced Born This Way Sculpting Concealer is definitely the way to go. Last but not least, to set everything in place Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray keeps my flawless makeup lasting for hours. So however you decide to perform your makeup haul, make sure you make choices suitable during environmental changes tailored to your skin type.
